I first became interested in birds when I attended a summer camp and went on a nature walk and saw Cedar Waxwings for the first time. Their beauty I thought was quite unbelievable ... I was hooked. During those years I would go to Jones Beach in the winter time and get to see Saw Whet Owls and Purple Sandpipers as well as other ocean and shore birds. During my senior year at high school in the summer I went to Audubon Nature Camps in Medomak , Maine and Greenwich, Conn. I met Sandy Sprunt and other famous birders of that era.

I went to Virginia Tech and graduated in Forestry and Wildlife. I then went to work for the forest service on the west coast but that didn't work out and I found a job here working for the weekly newspaper. After a few years I bought the printing business from the newspaper owner and worked there untill I retired.

During that period I took up Scuba Diving. I was certified and went with a group of friends many times on a boat which left Florida to go to the Caribbean. Some of my fellow dividers were also underwater photographers which really interested me as well. I became really involved with Macro Photography especially at night.

I sent one of my photographs to a Ritz photo contest and came in fourth out of forty thousand entrants and won a camera.

After several years of diving and diving photography I once again reverted back to my original love ... bird and critter photography. I take photos on an almost daily basis. During the past several years I have had many of my photos published first in the Roanoke Times Current and then in the Roanoke Times local supplement The Burgs.

With the advent of digital photography I am able to put my pictures on my computer and print the ones I like best.

I am a member of the New River Bird Club and I usually give the April program featuring my pictures. This year I showed many pictures that I had taken in Florida on two different occasions. Including some very beautiful photos of Great Egrets in breeding plumage.

I have exhibited at the Christiansburt December show as well as the Lions club and the Heritage show at Montgomery Museum. At the present time my Photos are at a local physician's office and the Radford Municipal building .

I am retired and married to my wife, Doris. We have four children and seven grandchildren.

All pictures on this site as well as many others are for sale.
